What is ADHD?
ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. It can affect both children and adults, impacting their ability to focus, organize tasks, and manage time effectively.
What are the signs of ADHD?
Common signs of ADHD include difficulty paying attention, frequent daydreaming, forgetfulness, trouble following instructions, fidgeting, excessive talking, interrupting others, difficulty sitting still, impatience with waiting in line or being stuck in traffic, being impatient or overly irritable with inconveniences, emotional dysregulation, difficulty focusing, easily distracted, and impulsive behavior. These symptoms can vary in intensity and may present differently in children and adults.
How does ADHD impact daily life?
ADHD can affect various aspects of daily life, including academic performance, work productivity, relationships, and self-esteem. Individuals with ADHD may struggle with time management, organization, and completing tasks, which can lead to frustration and stress.
What is executive functioning and how is it related to ADHD?
Executive functioning refers to a set of cognitive processes that help individuals plan, organize, and complete tasks. These processes include working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control. People with ADHD often experience challenges with executive functioning, making it difficult to manage daily responsibilities.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book online through the scheduling page. Choose the service you want, pick a time, and you’ll receive a confirmation email with next steps.
What’s included in an adult ADHD assessment?
A comprehensive ADHD assessment typically includes an intake, clinical interview, standardized measures, review of relevant history, and a feedback session. You’ll receive clear results and practical recommendations tailored to your life and goals.
What if I’m not sure whether it’s ADHD, trauma, anxiety, or burnout?
You don’t have to sort that out alone. Many symptoms overlap. Assessment and therapy can help clarify what’s going on and what supports will actually help.
Who do you serve for online ADHD assessments?
Online ADHD assessments are available for adults (18+) who live in Oregon or Washington. If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible, reach out and I’ll help you confirm fit and next steps.
Can you diagnose ADHD via telehealth?
Yes. ADHD assessments can be completed via secure telehealth for eligible adults in Oregon and Washington, using clinical interview and standardized measures designed for remote use.
How long does an adult ADHD assessment take from start to finish?
Timelines vary based on scheduling and how quickly forms are completed, but most assessments include multiple steps (intake, measures, interview, and feedback). You’ll get a clear timeline when you book so you know what to expect.
Do you assess for conditions that can overlap with ADHD (like anxiety, trauma, OCD, or PTSD)?
Yes. Because symptoms can overlap, the assessment process considers differential diagnosis and common co-occurring concerns. The goal is clarity—not just a label.
Do I need childhood records or a parent interview for an adult ADHD assessment?
Not always. If records or collateral input are available, they can be helpful, but many adults don’t have access to them. We’ll work with what you have and discuss options during intake.
What if I’m worried I’m “just lazy” or “not trying hard enough”?
That worry is incredibly common—especially for high-masking adults. The assessment helps separate character judgments from neurobiology, stress, trauma, and executive functioning patterns so you can move forward with more self-trust.
What do I receive at the end of the ADHD assessment?
You’ll receive a clear explanation of results and personalized recommendations. When applicable, you may also receive written documentation to support treatment planning, accommodations, or next steps.
Do you offer therapy as well as assessments?
Yes. In addition to assessments, I offer trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming therapy and psychoeducation. If you’re not sure which service is the best starting point, we can talk through options.
