FAQS

I’ve Got Answers

I AM NEW TO THERAPY, WHERE DO I START?

Reaching out for help or making that first step for growth can be overwhelming. I recommend you browse the site to get a feel for my style, then go to our scheduling page and set up an initial 10-minute phone consultation with me. You can also just call me and leave a voicemail letting me know you would like to chat about options. We can then decide in that first discussion if it is a good fit and there is no obligation to work with me if you feel it is not! No hard feelings. I respect each individual to know what is the best path for themselves.

WHAT IF I START OFF WITH 50 MIN TALK THERAPY AND DECIDE I WANT THE MORE STRUCTURED 60 MIN CUSTOMIZED THERAPY?

No problem at all! You can switch from talk therapy to the structured program at any time. You can let me know in session or when you schedule your next appointment online. If you are not sure which to pick first, we can discuss the best option for you during an initial free 10-minute consultation.

I WANT TO JUMP RIGHT IN, IS THE 10-MINUTE INITIAL PHONE CONSULTATION REQUIRED?

No, it is not required! If you are ready to get started, go ahead and make your first full appointment. You really can't pick the wrong type of appointment, just get scheduled and we will get to work.

MY BODY DOES NOT FEEL GOOD BUT I DON'T KNOW WHY... AM I IN THE RIGHT PLACE?

You might be! If you are feeling down, depressed, anxious, or just in general having trouble functioning due to intruding thoughts, feelings, societal pressures, etc, then therapy can help you. We always want to rule out any medical conditions first so if you have physical issues we will want you to consult a doctor for physical ailments. However, sometimes depression can culminate into physical discomfort too. Set up a consultation if your not finding any other reasons for your somatic symptoms.

I NOTICE THAT YOU WORK WITH "WOMEN" WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? I WAS AMAB (ASSIGNED MALE AT BIRTH) BUT I AM TRANSGENDER, CAN I COME SEE YOU?

Absolutely! I am interested in working with all women.

Still have questions? Click on the contact me page and send me a message. I am happy to answer any questions you may have!

I DON'T KNOW WHY I AM SAD, CAN YOU HELP ME FIGURE IT OUT?

Absolutely! Sometimes it can be scary and isolating when we feel like something is "wrong" with us and there can be shame attached. It can impact our self-esteem, our relationships, our happiness, amongst other things. I would be honored to work with you to uncover the layers that may potentially be causing you symptoms that are holding you back in living the life you want to.

I HATE TALKING... WHAT ARE MY OTHER OPTIONS?

For trauma, I will soon be providing an alternative to talk therapy called EMDR:

"EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on changing the
emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process. EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. For
many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other
psychotherapies." (https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/)

WHAT IF I CAN'T PINPOINT A SPECIFIC ISSUE BUT I JUST WANT GUIDANCE FOR GROWTH IN MY LIFE? I FEEL STUCK OR LIKE MY LIFE CAN'T MOVE FORWARD FOR SOME REASON.

My customizable program would be a great fit for you. If you need support as you go through change or growth in your life, we can set goals with support.
